2009 Toyota Highlander Insurance Rates

Tired of not being able to afford each month for car insurance? You are in the same boat as most other car owners.

Drivers have multiple insurance companies to insure vehicles with, and although it’s nice to have multiple companies, it can be more challenging to compare rates and cut insurance costs.

Auto Insurance Quote Comparison

All major auto insurance companies like Progressive, Allstate and Geico give pricing online. Getting online rates doesn’t take much effort as you simply type in your required coverages into the quote form. When the form is submitted, their rating system pulls your credit score and driving record and generates pricing information. Being able to quote online makes it a lot easier to compare rates but the time it takes to visit different websites and complete many quote forms can be a bit tiresome and repetitive. But it’s very important to get many rate quotes if you want to find a lower rate.

There is an easier way!

An easier way to find cheaper rates utilizes a single form that gets prices from more than one company. The form is fast, eliminates form submissions, and makes quoting online much easier. After sending your information, it is quoted and you are able to buy any or none of the resulting price quotes.

If one or more price quotes are lower than your current rates, you simply finish the application and buy the policy. The entire process takes just a few minutes to complete and can result in significant savings.

To quickly find out if lower rates are available, click here to open in a new tab and begin entering your coverage information. If you have a policy now, it’s recommended you complete the form with the limits and deductibles identical to your current policy. This helps ensure you will have an apples-to-apples comparison for similar insurance coverage.

Save money by taking advantage of these discounts

The price of auto insurance can be rather high, but discounts can save money and there are some available to help offset the cost. Most are applied at the time of purchase, but some may not be applied and must be inquired about before being credited.

  • Drive Less and Save – Fewer annual miles on your Toyota could qualify for better rates on cars that stay parked.
  • Defensive Driver – Successfully completing a course in driver safety can save you 5% or more if you qualify.
  • Homeowners Discount – Owning a house may earn you a small savings because of the fact that having a home shows financial diligence.
  • Service Members Pay Less – Being deployed with a military unit could be rewarded with lower premiums.
  • Safe Driver Discount – Insureds without accidents may receive a discount up to 45% less on Highlander insurance than less cautious drivers.
  • Seat Belts Save – Drivers who require all occupants to use a seat belt could save 15% off the personal injury premium cost.
  • One Accident Forgiven – Some insurance companies will forgive one accident before raising your premiums so long as you haven’t had any claims for a particular time prior to the accident.

It’s important to note that many deductions do not apply to all coverage premiums. A few only apply to the cost of specific coverages such as comprehensive or collision. So even though they make it sound like adding up those discounts means a free policy, it doesn’t quite work that way. Any amount of discount will bring down your overall premium however.

Car insurance companies who might offer these benefits may include but are not limited to:

It’s a good idea to ask each company what discounts are available to you. Savings might not apply in your area.

When should I use an insurance agent?

When buying the right insurance coverage for your personal vehicles, there is no perfect coverage plan. Every situation is different and a cookie cutter policy won’t apply. For example, these questions could help you determine whether you would benefit from an agent’s advice.

  • Am I covered if my car is in a flood?
  • Can my teen driver be rated on a liability-only vehicle?
  • Can I make deliveries for my home business?
  • How much liability do I need to cover my assets?
  • Is my babysitter covered when using my vehicle?
  • Is my cargo covered for damage or theft?

If you can’t answer these questions but a few of them apply then you might want to talk to a licensed insurance agent. If you want to speak to an agent in your area, simply complete this short form or you can go here for a list of companies in your area.

Coverages available on your car insurance policy

Having a good grasp of car insurance helps when choosing which coverages you need and proper limits and deductibles. Policy terminology can be impossible to understand and even agents have difficulty translating policy wording. These are typical coverage types found on most car insurance policies.

Comprehensive coverages – Comprehensive insurance covers damage that is not covered by collision coverage. You first have to pay a deductible and the remainder of the damage will be paid by comprehensive coverage.

Comprehensive coverage protects against claims such as fire damage, hitting a bird, damage from a tornado or hurricane and damage from getting keyed. The highest amount you can receive from a comprehensive claim is the actual cash value, so if the vehicle is not worth much it’s not worth carrying full coverage.

Uninsured and underinsured coverage – Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist coverage provides protection when other motorists do not carry enough liability coverage. This coverage pays for medical payments for you and your occupants as well as damage to your Toyota Highlander.

Because many people carry very low liability coverage limits, their liability coverage can quickly be exhausted. So UM/UIM coverage is very important. Usually these limits are set the same as your liablity limits.

Collision – Collision coverage will pay to fix damage to your Highlander resulting from colliding with another vehicle or an object, but not an animal. A deductible applies and then insurance will cover the remainder.

Collision insurance covers claims such as driving through your garage door, hitting a mailbox and damaging your car on a curb. Collision coverage makes up a good portion of your premium, so you might think about dropping it from vehicles that are older. You can also increase the deductible to get cheaper collision coverage.

Auto liability – This protects you from injuries or damage you cause to other’s property or people in an accident. It protects you against other people’s claims. It does not cover your injuries or vehicle damage.

It consists of three limits, bodily injury for each person, bodily injury for the entire accident, and a limit for property damage. You might see liability limits of 100/300/100 that means you have $100,000 bodily injury coverage, $300,000 for the entire accident, and a total limit of $100,000 for damage to vehicles and property. Alternatively, you may have one limit called combined single limit (CSL) which combines the three limits into one amount and claims can be made without the split limit restrictions.

Liability can pay for claims such as funeral expenses, bail bonds and medical expenses. The amount of liability coverage you purchase is your choice, but buy as much as you can afford.

Coverage for medical payments – Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and medical payments coverage pay for immediate expenses for dental work, pain medications, funeral costs and rehabilitation expenses. They are utilized in addition to your health insurance plan or if you lack health insurance entirely. Coverage applies to both the driver and occupants and will also cover being hit by a car walking across the street. Personal Injury Protection is not universally available but it provides additional coverages not offered by medical payments coverage
